Getting organized is a great emphasis. We are all busy, but believe it or not we will be busier once we fully launch Motova8 Training Solutions, so now is the time to clean up our act.
Tony, how about listing your organization tips from the bootcamp presentation? I need a boost because I am a recovering pack-rat when it comes to "stuff" (which my family calls "junk"- until they need something).
On the other hand, I do a fairly decent job of handling tasks (as opposed to stuff). Here are some comments on that subject from the last teleconference, "Getting Things Done".
1. Make a comprehensive end of year list of carry over tasks for 2010.
2. Prioritize A B C and add completion dates. NOT projected completion dates, but actual completion dates. Try to keep everything in the first quarter of 2010.
3. Start whacking away at the list Monday morning. As you complete tasks early, move other tasks up in the schedule.
Keep at this until you "catch up". At that point you are masters of your universe (ahead of the famous power curve), your time management becomes much easier, the need to prioritize lessens greatly. You can then begin to reward yourself with time off or by assigning yourself higher level tasks that support your long-term life goals.
I love talking about this stuff. Anyone looking for details or an accountability coach in this area give me a call.
Be safe tonight.
John, gr8 post and thank you for your comments. One thing that I do at the end of each month is declutter my life. It starts with my closets, goes down to my living area and then finally to my garage. Once I've organized the "liked to haves" over the "still use and must have" category it gets easy. The liked to have stuff that has been sitting for months and years will go to a new good home where it will be used and not wasted. When I buy a new shirt or shoes I also look for the ones in my closet that is getting the boot. We all need to look closely at what we have and what we don’t have. Sometimes less is more. Sometimes we tend to bring this into our lives that we just don’t need. I make my end of the month routine work for me because I know it will be productive and the charities that I give to are getting some gr8 used clothing of furniture.
You and also declutter your kitchen, mail box, emails, tweets, etc. to actual use your assets to your advantage. We have plenty of tools to do all the things we want to do in life but don’t let them get in your way.
Finally, be real and be honest. Do you want to make a change? Yes or No? If the answer if yes then seriously attack this like your life depends on it. One person is in charge on you.......YES IT'S YOU so do it right and do it right now!
