What have you done so far.....

Did you make a New Year's resolution? Was it in the area of Fitness, Finance or Family? Most people make new year resolution's but fail to accomplish their goals because of a number of reasons. I will tell you quickly that most people fail because their planning piece is missing. It's gr8 to want to lose 10lbs, create a better budget or have a family readiness plan, but if you don't take the time to CREATE AND EXECUTE your plan, it will not work.

What is your plan for this year?
How will you make your plan an "action plan" instead of a "reaction plan"?

Whatever you choose to do this year in any area of your life, please remember to take the time to plan for your mission! Having served over 20 years as a United States Marine, I know the power of planning. It works so make it work for you.

If you dont take the time to create and execute your plan, it will not work. The key word there for me is execute:(the doing part). I can plan and create what I "should" do but it's the doing part that is lacking. The flesh is so resistant in engaging and cooperating with the brain. It's easy for the flesh to behave in rebellious teenage behavior. And that is what my pay off has been. The body looks out of shape and is overweight. I suppose in order for this weight loss journey to be somewhat successful I'll take it one day at a time. If I over think it I end up overwhelming myself and that will for sure guarantee poor results. So, whats gonna be best for me today? Do a workout dvd. Do I want to do a workout dvd? He.. No! But I deserve to do the dvd and feel better. All right well let's see if I follow through with it.

yes, I did follow through with it. Quads and triceps are sore from squats and tricep dips. Thats ok. The workout dvd wasn't that bad and I'm glad I did it.

Patty, my name is Brandon Bullert and I am the Director of Fitness & Nutrition. First of all, GR8 job in doing the DVD, Im glad you did it too. I read your blog the day before your last posting and I understand when you talk about the overwhelming part. One day at a time and remember you are number 1 priority. I want you to do the DVD 2 days a week for now, with at least 2 days rest in between. The other days I want you to walk at least 20 minutes a day. Now I dont know if you have any physical conditions I need to be concerned about. Please give me details on what you have been doing for fitness, along with your goals for 20 10.

Brandon, Thank you for introducing yourself and responding back to my comments. I read your bio on facebook and motova8.com. Very impressive. Genuine and sincere.

I am utilizing this blog because I need to be a part of something larger than myself. I am very good at getting in my own way. I am more cooperative with the spirit of encouragement rather than the "you shoulds" You and your partners offer knowledge, enthusiasm, encouragement and motovation. I'm privledged to have the opportunity to learn from and work with you.

I appreciate your recommendation to do a workout dvd twice a week and on the off days walk for 20 minutes. This blog gives me the encouragement to re-direct my thoughts and focus on what I want my desired out come to be. I've done this weight loss journey too many times as the lone ranger. That strategy usually guarantees poor results.

I will write again to give you details on what I have been doing for fitness as well as my goals for 2010.

I look forward to reading from you again.

Patty
p.s. I am originally from Elk River, MN. It's about 80 miles NW of Red Wing.

p.p.s. The Vikings beat the Cowboys! How do you think the Vikes will do against the Saints next weekend?

Gosh this takes a lot of effort. I'm pretty much getting sucked down the drain. I'm back where I started from. I don't understand why I don't do what I know needs to be done. Brandon your recommendation is so reasonable and do-able but yet....... Do I not want it bad enough? That sounds stupid. If I did'nt want it I would'nt be here posting on this blog. It's so frickin frusterating, disappointing and honestly embarrasing. One response to that statement could be "You must not be frusterated, disappointed and embarrased enough otherwise you'd be doing something about it. I feel like I am at rock bottom. I can't imagine going further down.

Good Morning Motova8er!!! Patty I cannot believe those Vikings, WOW!!! All those turnovers they should have won by a long shot. They shot themselves in the foot with all the mistakes. This is what I do not want you to do. You said that you have hit rock bottom, well some of us need to get there before we start the climb! Now that you have fallen and hit rock bottom, STAND UP, SHAKE IT OFF AND LETS GET READY TO CLIMB PATTY!!! :-) YOU GOT THIS. Like I said one day at a time, now for you it’s one push from the foot and pull from the hand at a time. Look up! That light is the combo of all your fitness goals, what are they by the way? Yes, we need to find something and a reason why you want to stay healthy. Patty, every one of us deserves to be happy and healthy and this is how I want you to feel! Do you have children, grandchildren a special someone that you want to be with for a very long healthy time on earth? Patty, like I said, you are number one priority in life, once you are in control of you, you can be in control of everything else. When you tell yourself you are going to do something or not do something that would set you back from your goals; respect yourself enough to do the right things right to accomplish your fitness goals. I know you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, so tell yourself NO MORE, I GOT THIS, IM ON THE MOTOVA8 MISSION. Go look in the mirror and say that to yourself 8 times. Time to take things to the next level, I would like you to do the DVD 3x’s a week now, try to get it done first thing in the morning. Studies show if you exercise and have a healthy breakfast in the morning, you will feel better about yourself throughout the day and make smarter choices at work and healthy choices for chow. Days you’re not doing the DVD, I want you to power walk for only 20 minutes. With that Motova8tion you have right now I want you to go to your kitchen and take away the comfort food and the junk stuff that is going to keep you from your goals. I just want you to know that I am proud of you for being honest with me, in where you are in life. I have been here many many times with clients and I will do what I can to help you reach the top. Remember this is a lifestyle change, not just a couple weeks or months program. Please tell me what your goals are in fitness and tell me how many meals and snacks you’re having a day. I look forward to hearing back from you Motova8er!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!

Brandon, Hi
Im still working on responding to your post. I hope to have it done by Wednesday. Between work, home, school and kids I tend to get caught up with life. Thank you for your encouraging words. They help me to stop and think. And hopefully make decisions that is going to support my fitness and weightloss goals. The flesh is pretty resistant and is not completely engaged but I am becoming more aware. The amount of self control this requires really put me to the test. I wish I could say that I am in control of myself, but Im not there yet:|
